よくある間違い

  ○ There is more information than there was last year.

  information は数えられない名詞なので、There is more information とします。また、昨年との比較では there was last year を補うと自然です。

• ✕ There are more applicant than positions.

  ○ There are more applicants than positions.

  applicant は数えられる名詞で、more の後では複数形の applicants を使います。
