よくある間違い

• ✕ What's reason you canceled the order?

  reasonの前には通常theが必要です。

  reasonの後で原因を表す前置詞はforが一般的です。

• ✕ What's the reason did you cancel it?

  reasonの後ろには疑問文の語順ではなく、主語・動詞の平叙文の語順が続きます。

失礼とまでは限りませんが、文脈によっては理由を強く求める、やや詰問調の響きになります。名詞の理由を尋ねる場合はWhat's the reason for ...?、より配慮した言い方ならCould you explain why ...? が一般的です。
