物や人が一か所に集まらず、いろいろな場所に分散している時に使います。場所を厳密に示さず、散らばっている様子をやわらかく伝える表現で、日常会話でも文章でも使えます。

よくある間違い

• ✕ They're here or there.

  ○ They're here and there.

  orでは一方を選ぶ意味になり、複数の場所に点在している意味にならない

• ✕ There are here and there some cafés.

  ○ There are some cafés here and there.

  here and thereは文頭にも置けますが、このthere are構文では名詞の後ろに置くほうが自然です
