よくある間違い

• ✕ We're negotiation with the supplier.

  ○ We're in negotiations with the supplier.

  be動詞の後に名詞の negotiation をそのまま置くことはできません。「in negotiations」の形にするか、「We're negotiating」のように動詞を使います。

• ✕ We're in negotiation to the supplier.

  ○ We're in negotiations with the supplier.

  交渉相手には to ではなく with を使います。

契約や取引の条件を相手と調整していて、まだ最終決定していない時に使います。社内報告や取引先への進捗説明で使うのが一般的です。

どちらも交渉中だという意味ですが、We're in negotiations with ~. のほうがやや改まったビジネス報告に向きます。We're negotiating with ~. はより簡潔で、会話でも使いやすい表現です。
