どちらでも

建物の中で、受付や店員が目的の場所を案内するときに使います。相手に迷わず移動してもらうため、落ち着いて場所をはっきり伝える表現です。

よくある間違い

• ✕ The bank is in the third floor.

  ○ The bank is on the third floor.

  階数にはinではなくonを使うのが一般的です。

• ✕ The bank is on third floor.

  ○ The bank is on the third floor.

  通常、階数の前にはtheを付けます。

• ✕ The bank is at the third floor.

  ○ The bank is on the third floor.

  階数を表す前置詞はatではなくonです。

通常はfloorを付けますが、文脈が明らかな場合は、The café is on the third. のようにfloorを省略することもあります。学習者はまずThe café is on the third floor. の形を使うと自然です。
