言い換え・似た表現

よくある間違い

• ✕ The reason is because I was tired.

  ○ The reason is that I was tired.

  reason と because はどちらも理由を示すため、重ねるより that を使う形が一般的です。

• ✕ Reason is that the shop was closed.

  ○ The reason is that the shop was closed.

  この文では、通常は名詞 reason の前に the が必要です。

• ✕ The reason that is I was busy.

  ○ The reason is that I was busy.

  正しい語順は The reason is that ～ です。is と that の位置を入れ替えません。
