言い換え・似た表現

• The store is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  その店は午前9時から午後8時まで営業しています。

  営業時間を明確に伝える、より自然な表現です。

• The class runs from 10 to 11:30.

  授業は10時から11時半までです。

  授業や催しの時間を伝える自然な表現です。

• The exhibition runs from June 1 to June 15.

  その展示会は6月1日から6月15日まで開催されます。

  展示会などの開催期間を伝える表現です。

• The office will be closed from Monday through Wednesday.

  オフィスは月曜日から水曜日まで休業します。

  休業期間を伝える表現で、水曜日を含むことが明確です。

• The service operates from 8 a.m. until midnight.

  そのサービスは午前8時から深夜0時まで提供されています。

  終了時刻を強調して伝える表現です。

よくある間違い

• ✕ The store is from 9 to 8.

  ○ The store is open from 9 to 8.

  営業時間を表す場合は、openを入れて「is open from ... to ...」とするのが自然です。

• ✕ The class is from 10 until to 11.

  ○ The class is from 10 to 11.

  fromと一緒に終点を示す場合はtoを使います。from ... until to ...とは言いません。

• ✕ The event is from Monday at Wednesday.

  ○ The event is from Monday to Wednesday.

  期間の終点にはatではなくtoを使います。
