どちらでも

授業や発表、面接などで、複数ある質問のうち最初の質問に自分から答えると申し出る時に使います。「私が答えます」と前向きに役割を引き受ける、自然で控えめな表現です。先生や面接官に対しても使えますが、より丁寧に許可を求めたい場合は別の表現が適しています。

よくある間違い

• ✕ Let me to answer the first question.

  ○ Let me answer the first question.

  letの後ろではtoを付けず、動詞の原形を使います。

• ✕ Let me answer for the first question.

  ○ Let me answer the first question.

  「質問に答える」はanswer a questionと言い、通常answerの後ろにforは付けません。

Let me answer the first question.は失礼？

通常は失礼ではありません。自分から役割を引き受ける前向きな表現です。より丁寧に許可を求めるなら、May I answer the first question?のように言えます。
