職務の継承

「職務の継承」の英語

「職務の継承」は英語で、一般には succession to an office または succession to a position と言います。ビジネスでは、後継者を決めて職務を引き継ぐ計画を succession plan と表現します。

succession to an office
役職や公職を後継者が引き継ぐことを表す、正式な表現です。
The constitution sets out succession to the presidency.
その憲法は大統領職の継承について定めています。
inherit a position
親や前任者などから役職や地位を受け継ぐ場合に使います。
In the old system, the eldest son could inherit the position.
昔の制度では、長男がその地位を継承できました。
take over a role
前任者から役割や職務を実際に引き継ぐことを表す、比較的日常的な表現です。
Maria will take over the role next month.
マリアが来月その役割を引き継ぎます。

会社などで、重要な役職の後継者を決め、引き継ぎを進めるための計画です。
The company revised its succession plan.

He inherited the bailiffship from his father.

執務内容およびその継承としての執行官の地位

bailiffshipは、bailiff（執行官）と -ship（職位・性質を表す）から成り、職位そのものだけでなくその継承や継続状態も示す。
