「社交パーティー」の英語

「社交パーティー」は英語で social event と言います。気軽な集まりなら social gathering、格式のある祝賀会なら gala affair、式典後などの改まった会なら reception と言えます。

social gathering
知人や仕事仲間が集まる、一般的な社交の集まりに使います。
We met many new people at the social gathering.
その社交の集まりで、私たちは多くの新しい人と出会いました。
social event
パーティーや交流会など、社交目的の催し全般を指します。
The annual social event brought together artists from across the city.
毎年恒例の社交イベントには、市内各地から芸術家が集まりました。
reception
式典後や祝賀の場で開かれる、やや改まったパーティーを指します。
Guests were invited to a reception after the ceremony.
招待客は式典後のレセプションに招かれました。
gala affair
格式があり、華やかで祝賀色の強い社交パーティーに使います。
The museum hosted a gala affair to raise funds.
その美術館は資金を集めるため、華やかな祝賀パーティーを開きました。

gala affairは、祝いを示すgalaと催しを表すaffairが結合した語で、英語では特に華やかな社交的催しを指すように発展した

social party は意味は通じても、自然な定番表現ではありません。
× I went to gala affair last night.

○ I went to a gala affair last night.

可算名詞の affair には通常、冠詞 a が必要です。
