洗濯できない

「洗濯できない」の英語

「洗濯できない」は英語で not washable と言います。衣類の表示では nonwashable も使われ、ドライクリーニングだけの品には dry-clean only が自然です。水洗いできないという意味です。

not washable
洗濯表示や商品の説明で、水洗いできないことを示します。
The care label says this blouse is not washable.
洗濯表示には、このブラウスは洗濯できないと書いてあります。
nonwashable
衣類や製品の表示で、洗濯できない性質を示します。
This fabric is nonwashable and must be handled with care.
この生地は洗濯できないため、取り扱いに注意が必要です。
dry-clean only
ドライクリーニングだけで手入れする衣類の表示に使います。
The care tag says dry-clean only, so please do not wash this coat.
洗濯表示にドライクリーニングのみとあるので、このコートは洗わないでください。
cannot be washed
衣類や布製品を洗えないことを、説明文や会話で明確に伝える表現です。
These gloves cannot be washed in a machine.
この手袋は洗濯機では洗えません。

nonwashableは、英語の否定接頭辞non-がwashableに付いた語で、直接的には「洗濯できない」を意味し、ドライクリーニングを示すことがある
