The adsorption of pollutants onto activated carbon is widely used in water treatment.
The accumulation of substances on the surface of a material, typically forming a thin layer through adhesion of molecules or ions.
The sorption of pollutants onto the charcoal prevented them from entering the water.
The process by which a substance is taken up by another, either by adhering to its surface as adsorption or by penetrating into its bulk as absorption.
× Adsorption means a substance enters the material.
○ Adsorption means a substance stays on the material's surface.
× The material has good absorption on its surface.
○ The material has a high adsorption capacity.
