工作班

「工作班」の英語

「工作班」は英語で operational cell と言います。テロや犯罪などを秘密裏に実行する小規模な集団を指し、一般の職場の班には通常使いません。報道や捜査の記事でよく見られる表現です。

秘密の集団という一般的な言い方で、専門性は低めです。
It sounds like a secret group was behind the incident.
その事件の背後には秘密の集団がいたようです。

秘密裏に作戦や違法行為を実行する小規模なグループ

operational cellは、operational（作戦を行う）とcell（小さな組織単位、語源はラテン語cella「小室」）の組み合わせで、秘密の作戦活動を行う小グループを指す表現。

work team は一般の職場のチームを指すため、秘密の実行集団という意味にはなりません。

○ I joined an operations team at my company.

一般の会社の「班」には work team より operations team などが自然で、operational cell は犯罪などの秘密の実行集団を指します。
