「退任挨拶」の英語

「退任挨拶」は英語で farewell speech と言います。格式の高い退任演説なら valedictory address、短い別れの言葉なら farewell remarks も使えます。定年退職や引退に伴う挨拶は retirement speech と言います。

卒業式や退任の場などで述べる、格式の高い最後の演説に使います。
The mayor delivered a valedictory address before leaving office.
市長は退任前に告別演説を行いました。

退任や別れの際に幅広く使える、最も一般的なスピーチの表現です。

valedictory addressは、ラテン語のvale（さようなら）＋dicere（言う）に由来するvalediction/valedictoryと、演説を意味するaddressが結びついて「別れを述べる演説」となった語である。

英語では、この場合の挨拶は greeting より speech が自然です。

resignation は辞任や辞職そのものを強調するため、退任時の別れの挨拶全般には farewell speech が適切です。
