× We need to do a fundamental solution.
○ We need a fundamental solution.
do a solution という組み合わせは不自然です。solution は「解決策」という名詞なので、文脈に応じて find、develop、need などと一緒に使います。
× We need to solve the underlying of this problem.
○ We need to identify the underlying cause of this problem.
underlying は形容詞なので、後ろに cause や problem などの名詞が必要です。
