「空売り」の英語
「空売り」は英語で short selling と言います。short sale も使えますが、不動産の「任意売却」を指す場合もあるため、金融取引では short selling が一般的です。
「空売り」の英語の使い分け
金融市場で最も一般的な「空売り」の言い方です。

「空売り」を英語にするときのよくある間違い
× I did short selling of the stock.
○ I shorted the stock.
“do short selling of the stock” は不自然です。株を空売りしたという意味では、動詞の “short” を使って “I shorted the stock.” と言えます。
× I made a short sale on a house to profit from a falling stock price.
○ I made a short sale of the stock.
不動産の “short sale” と金融取引の「空売り」を混同しないように注意が必要です。株式の空売りには “short sale” も使えますが、 “short selling” のほうが一般的です。
