仮説
「仮説」の英語
「仮説」は英語で hypothesis と言います。研究や問題解決で、観察や情報から立てた、まだ検証していない説明を指します。日常的な推測には conjecture が使われ、surmisal は硬くまれです。

語源
hypothesisは、ギリシャ語のhypo（下に）＋thesis（置く）からの合成で、下に置かれた考え＝まだ確かでない説明＝検証前の仮説を意味する。
