Physical therapists assess muscular tonus during an exam.
A persistent low-level contraction or stiffness in skeletal muscle present at rest, often assessed clinically as muscle tone.
The neurologist assessed the patient's muscle tone during the exam.
The inherent tension present in resting muscles that helps maintain posture and readiness for action.
語源
muscle toneは、muscle(ラテン語musculus「小さな鼠」が語源で筋肉を指す)とtone(緊張を意味するギリシャ語tonos経由の語)が組み合わさってできた語である
A state of partial, continuous muscle contraction that provides resistance to passive stretch and contributes to posture and readiness for movement.
Tonicity referring to muscle tone: the amount of tension or resistance in muscles, assessed as resistance to passive stretch in clinical settings.
