直訳する

「直訳する」の英語

「直訳する」は英語で translate literally と言います。語句を一語ずつ訳す場合は translate word for word も使えます。calque は、直訳で作られた語や表現を指す名詞です。

翻訳借用は、他言語からの直訳で作られた語やフレーズである。

翻訳借用：他言語の語や表現を文字どおり訳して新語を作ることをさす

calqueは、フランス語のcalque（写し・模写）から借用され、動詞calquer「写す／なぞる」に由来して英語に入った語形成用語である

翻訳借用は語をまるごと借りるloanwordとは異なり要素ごとに直訳して作られ、例えばドイツ語Wolkenkratzerは英語skyscraperの翻訳借用である
