無関係性

「無関係性」の英語

「無関係性」は英語で unrelatedness と言います。日常や一般的な文章では lack of relevance（関連性のなさ）や irrelevance（本題との無関係）もよく使います。extraneity はまれで硬い表現です。

unrelatedness
二つ以上の物事に関係がない状態を表す、比較的中立的な名詞です。
The unrelatedness of the two cases surprised the researchers.
その二つの事例に関係がないことに、研究者たちは驚きました。
lack of relevance
話題や目的との関連性がないことを、自然で分かりやすく表します。
The report's lack of relevance made it difficult to use.
その報告書は関連性がなく、使うのが難しいものでした。
irrelevance
本題や議論に関係がないことを示す、やや硬めの名詞です。
The irrelevance of the speaker's comments to the topic became obvious.
その話し手の発言が本題と無関係であることは明らかになりました。

extraneityは、extraneous＋-ityの構成で、extraneousが「余計な・関係のない」を意味することからその性質を表す語として成り立った。

unrelatednessは、接頭辞un-（否定）とrelatedness（related＋-ness）から成る合成語で、「関係がない状態」を表す。
