「文脈依存的」の英語

「文脈依存的」は英語で context-dependent と言います。言語学の専門用語として、発話者や時点、場所によって指す対象が変わる表現には indexical を使うことがあります。一般会話では context-dependent のほうが広く使いやすい表現です。

言語学で、発話状況によって指す対象が変わる語や表現に使う専門用語です。

言語学で、場所や時点などを指し示す表現について使う専門用語です。

indexicalは、英語のindex（指し示すもの）に形容詞化の語尾-icalが付いてできた語で、元は「指し示す性質を持つ」という意味で用いられるようになった。
