Light shows diffraction when passing through a narrow slit.
The bending and spreading of waves, such as light or sound, when they encounter obstacles or pass through narrow openings.
Light can undergo diffraction as it passes through a narrow opening.
Scientists observed clear diffraction when sound passed through the doorway.
The research team analyzed diffraction patterns from the new optical device.
Is that colorful pattern caused by diffraction?
× Light bends because of refraction around the edge of an obstacle.
○ Light spreads around the edge of an obstacle because of diffraction.
