同側の

「同側の」の英語

「同側の」は英語で ipsilateral と言います。主に神経学や整形外科などで、症状やけがが基準となる部位と同じ側にあることを示す専門語です。反対側の contralateral と対で覚えると便利です。

ipsilateralは、ラテン語のipsi（自己）とlateral（側面）から成り、文字通り「同じ側の」を意味する語として医学で用いられる。
