反転できない

「反転できない」の英語

「反転できない」は英語で non-invertible と言います。数学やコンピューターでは、逆操作が存在しない対象に使います。日常的に「元に戻せない」と言う場合は irreversible が自然です。

non-invertible
数学で逆行列がない行列や、逆操作が存在しない処理に使います。
The function is non-invertible because different inputs share one output.
異なる入力が同じ出力になるため、その関数は反転できません。
not invertible
non-invertibleより平易で、説明文や教科書でも使われます。
A transformation is not invertible if it loses information.
情報を失う変換は反転できません。
cannot be inverted
対象を反転する操作ができないことを、動詞で具体的に述べます。
This transformation cannot be inverted after information is lost.
この変換は情報が失われた後では逆変換できません。
irreversible
反転に限らず、変化や操作を元に戻せない場合に使います。
The export causes an irreversible change to the original file.
その書き出しによって、元のファイルに戻せない変更が生じます。

non-invertibleは、否定を表すnon-とinvertibleの結合で、invertはラテン語invertereに由来し『元に戻すことができない』という意味合いを作る
