「同国人」の英語
「同国人」は英語で compatriot と言います。fellow citizen は国籍が同じことを明確にする説明的な表現です。countryman は「同国人」の意味でも使われますが、文脈によっては別の意味にもなるため、compatriot のほうが分かりやすいでしょう。
「同国人」の英語の使い分け
同じ国の人を指す基本語で、やや硬く公的な場にも使えます。

国籍が同じだと明確に伝えたいときに使う、自然で説明的な表現です。
「同国人」の意味でも使われますが、やや古風で文脈に左右される表現です。また、国によっては「地方に住む男性」など別の意味になることもあります。
