「民間船舶」の英語

「民間船舶」は英語で civilian vessels と言います。軍艦などではない民間の船舶全般を指す表現です。商業目的の船に限る場合は commercial vessels、1隻の商船なら merchant ship、商船隊や海運業を指す場合は merchant marine や merchant shipping を使います。

「民間船舶」の英語の使い分け

civilian vessel
軍艦などの軍用船ではない、民間の船舶を指す一般的な表現です。

貨物輸送や旅客輸送など、商業目的で使われる船舶を指します。

private vessel は個人所有の船という意味になりやすく、商業目的の民間船舶を表すなら commercial vessel が適切です。
× The civilian vessel are in the harbor.

○ The civilian vessels are in the harbor.

複数の船舶を表す場合は vessels とし、be動詞も are にします。
