対応物
「対応物」の英語
「対応物」は英語で counterpart と言います。別の組織や場所で同じ役割を担う人や物を指し、協力相手の partner や対立相手の opponent とは限りません。

語源
counterpartは、もともと契約書などの写し＝もう一方の写本を意味し、写し＝対応するものという考えから広がって『相当するもの』の意味になった。

counterpart は同じ役割や立場の相手を指すだけで、協力関係や同じ組織に属することまでは表しません。
× I need a partner of this word.
○ I need the English counterpart of this word.
言葉や物の対応物には、partner ではなく counterpart が自然です。
