「点在」の英語

「点在」は英語で be scattered と言います。建物や店などが「あちこちにある」ときに使い、be dotted with は「〜が点在している」と少し描写的に表せます。interspersal は一般的な場所の「点在」ではなく、何かを間に挿入することを表す名詞です。

語源

interspersalは、ラテン語のinter-（間に）とspargere（散らす）に基づく動詞intersperseの名詞形として生じ、「間に散りばめること／挿入」の意味になった。

学術的な文章ではinterspersalは本文の流れに割り込む挿入を指す語として用いられ、footnotesやcommentsと共に出現しやすい。
