「北西に」を英語にするときのよくある間違い
× The storm moved northwestern.
○ The storm moved north-west.
northwestern は形容詞なので、方向へ移動することを表すには副詞の north-west（または northwest）を使います。
× I walked to north-west.
○ I walked north-west.
裸の方角を副詞として使う場合は通常 to を付けません。ただし、目的地として「北西へ」を表す場合は I walked to the northwest. のように the を付けます。
